PIECEMAKERS APRIL 17
The Mountain View Women's group, the Piecemakers, is planning a soup, "go withs" like sandwiches, breads, salads, etc., and desserts. We need recipes of things you would be willing to make and contribute (no more than one to make but up to three recipes per person). Please contribute recipes that are delicious and foolproof as soon as possible. The plan is to print the recipes and hand them out. Please give to Betty Couts.

FRIDAY VOLUNTEERS WANTED
Volunteers are wanted on Fridays from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM. Come often or from time to time. Weekly bulletins are folded & stapled, the sanctuary is made ready, and the kitchen cleaned. Outdoor work such as clipping trees & shrubs, pulling weeds, & watering flowers are done as needed. Other times we change ribbons (in the sanctuary), write cards (birthday, anniversary, get well, etc.), check on supplies, and change light bulbs. Long term tasks would be a much needed thorough cleaning of kitchen cabinets, closets, storage areas, and yearly work on the yard, trees and shrubs. We have, in the past, also painted and refurbished rooms. You do make a difference! Come enjoy the companionship. Please feel free to contact Cher Ottinger if you have any questions.
MVUC FOOD BAG SHOPPING
If you are looking for "The Most Bang for Your Buck" for the food bag (handed out each week during service), check out the Food Share America order form. Each Month there is a $20 Pantry Box containing about 20 items and an around ten-item Pay-It-Forward Box for $10. They contain a nice variety of canned and dry food. Just let Marcia Hall know you want it to go the a food box when you order.
KING SOOPERS & SAFEWAY GIFT CARDS
The King Soopers & Safeway gift card program has been successfully supporting both Mountain View and Habitat for Humanity with REAL cash. By purchasing gift cards sold by Rica Shea, the rebate is paid back to Mountain View United Church and by purchasing them from Mary Royston, the rebate is paid back directly to Habitat for Humanity. Here is how it works. You purchase gift cards from Rica or Mary which can be used “just like cash” at Safeway & King Soopers. There is no additional cost to you. You can purchase groceries, gasoline, or other gift cards with these gift cards – dollar for dollar. The store then pays back a rebate depending on the volume of gift cards we sell. It is truly that easy. Mountain View was able to earn $1,800 during 2006 through this program and only a few families consistently used the gift cards for their regular shopping. Just imagine how we can support these missions if we increased the usage of the program. Rica and Mary are committed to having these available every Sunday at Church and to making their purchase as convenient as possible. Commit to trying this program today!
SACRED GROUNDS
Mountain View’s Sacred Grounds conversation group will meet on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM at Panera Bread (12293 E Iliff Ave). The weekly 60-minute conversation group was created to help individuals connect their faith story with the faith stories from Scripture. Each week we’ll use the lectionary readings as the jumping off point for our conversation. We hope you’ll invite your friends/neighbors/co-workers to join us for this meaningful time of conversation and spiritual formation.
